Alexandra Cabot original joined the "Special Victims Unit" as the Assistant District Attorney overseeing the squads arrets. Her trademark stubbornness combined with her intelligence led to more than a few confrontations both within the department and with the accused. Despite her cool demeaner, Cabot always empathized with the sexual assault victims.
While Cabot follows a strict code of legal ethics, she did once lie to a judge regarding a search warrant. Related to a child molester case, Cabot felt the lie was worth the pursuit of justice. However, when the young victim attempted suicide, the truth was revealed and Cabot was temporarily suspended.
After prosecuting a powerful and dangerous drug lord, she received numerous death threats. She pursued the case anyway, despite increased threats that included her mother. One night, while heading home, Cabot was shot. She was pronounced dead, but actually entered the Witness Protection Program.
She has now reemerged to guide a new crop of ADAs through the hectic and often dangerous New York legal system. She will work closely with Deputy D.A. Jim Steele to make sure cases are held to the letter of the law.

lol totally not lady-like at all...
One thing I've been thinking about is how did they bring her like out of the witness protection program. I mean she is the same person.
It confused me a bit.

I remember reading something that SM said and she said that they won't explain it because Alex would rather not remember it.

I haven't really paid much attention to the mothership....
But, yeah SVU is losing it's luster!
Hopefully someone will smack the writers with a really big stick and get them to come up with original ideas again
